COVID-19 restrictions affecting baptisms
The Church of Scotland has issued guidance on how Scottish Government restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic affect how we can provide services. See here for the full guidance
As of January 2021 we are in Enhanced Level 4 restrictions and baptisms can unfortunately not take place. The link above gives details on how this will change when restrictions are relaxed and baptisms can take place again.
Baptism is the appointed way of entry into Christ’s Church.
In the Church of Scotland the sacrament of baptism can be celebrated at any stage of a person’s life.
In baptism, young or old, we are baptised into the love of God, the God who loved us before we loved Him. We baptise infants in the hope and expectation that they be brought up in the Christian Church and family of God.
Usually then our Minister is looking for signs that this is the parent’s intention in the case of a baby/child. If you do wish a child to be baptised, or to be baptised yourself, please contact the ministry team by using the contact form below.
Within the Church of Scotland we can also offer a service of blessing for our children if this your preference. We will be happy to discuss this with you.
